Circumstances of disappearance: Geneva was last seen at The Artesian Lounge in Herculaneum, Missouri on July 25, 1976. Geneva wanted to go dancing that night, so she asked her daughter to go with her to The Artesian Lounge when they got off work that night. While there, they met a regular patron there by the name of Jimmie Lee Mills. Geneva and Jimmie seemed to be having a good time dancing together that evening. Geneva's daughter, Sheila decided to go home early, but Geneva wasn't ready to leave yet, so Jimmie offered to take Geneva home and Geneva agreed.
Geneva has not been heard from since.
When questioned, Mills stated that they left The Artesian Lounge around 1 a.m. and at that time, they decided to go to an afterhours bar in East St. Louis, about an hour away. When they arrived, they discovered that the afterhours bar was closed. It was at this time that Mills claims that he took Geneva to a donut shop in Crystal City, Missouri. 4:00 a.m. was the last time that Jimmie claims he saw Geneva at the donut shop.
A year before Geneva went missing, Mills was convicted of attempted rape and was released from prison in 1975. At the time of Geneva's disappearance, he was awaiting trial for the rape of a teenage girl. He was convicted and received probation and a suspended sentence. He later collected charges for receiving stolen property, escape, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Jimmie Lee Mills is also suspected in many other cases.
Geneva was the mother of 10 children. 6 of these children are still alive today and are still searching for answers. If you have any information regarding this case, please contact the Crystal City, Missouri Police Department at 636- 937-4601.
